Do I have to install an Access Control System?

February 22nd, 2012 by

Access control systems are not compulsory, however they do add convenience to your automatic gate system, allowing you to identify and admit visitors from the comfort of your home. There are several levels of access control available:

  • Basic Intercom – a single button system that allows voice communication between the gate and a telephone handset in your home, similar to entry systems in flats or apartments. Access can be allowed at the press of a button on the receiver.

  • Intercom/Digipad – for added convenience, you can incorporate a digital keypad into your automatic gate entry system, allowing approved visitors to gain entrance using a four digit code. This system is particularly useful if your house is unoccupied and access is required by staff or delivery personnel.

  • Intercom/Video – the ultimate in access control and security, this system includes a camera at the gate linked to a monochrome or colour display in your home, allowing you to visually identify visitors before operating the gates to allow access. This system is particularly useful for properties where the gates are not visible from the home or where security is of particular importance and clear identification is therefore paramount before admittance is allowed.
